You don’t have to be a runner to enjoy a marathon

You really wouldn’t want to – nor should you – run a marathon without a sensible training program beforehand. But there’s nothing to stop you watching and enjoying the smiling faces, good causes, achievement, camaraderie and entertainment as a spectator. It really makes for an uplifting experience.

These photos were taken on the edge of Sefton Park in Liverpool and reflect the atmosphere and sense of fun, as well as the heroic effort of the participants, at the Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon 2015.

I enjoyed this event from the side lines too and sat for while watching the bands perform live at sefton park bandstand. It was being managed by Kaya Herdstadt who I know and who performed herself at the Sticks and Stones event profiled in an earlier post. It was great to see the positive effect the music had on the runners. One bloke running in his kilt got very frisky and flashed the band. Shocking!
